Los Angeles: The Descendants", a screen version of Kaui Hart Hemmings' eponymous novel, won the best adapted screenplay award, while Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" was awarded for the best original screenplay at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony here.
Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash received the award for "The Descendants", which narrates the story of a land baron, played by George Clooney, who tries to reconnect with his two daughters after his wife suffers an accident.
Allen's "Midnight In Paris", starring Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates in key roles, is about a family that travels to the French capital for business. The movie also won a Golden Globe award for screenplay this year.
